Shark Coatings publishes starting prices for all of its offices, with no floor size attached; Jacksonville is its head office. EZ Garage Solutions works its 2-car and 3-car figures out from its starting rate. Checkmate Coatings gives its rate in a company-wide answer, and Jacksonville Beach is its head office. Affordable Epoxy publishes one figure, for new build homes. Coastal Coating & Resurfacing sells an acrylic resurfacing system, so its minimum is not an epoxy price. Prices as published on each source's own site, re-checked October 13, 2026. They change, and none of them is a quote. Pictimate is not affiliated with these businesses.
Jacksonville International Airport averages about 80 days a year with a high of 90°F or more, and the normal July high is 91.9°F with a normal low of 73.2°F (NOAA NCEI climate normals, 1991 to 2020). Rain is what sets it apart from a dry market: 53.40 inches in a normal year, on about 114 days, and each month from June to September normally brings between 6.77 and 7.60 inches.
NOAA's hourly normals for July put the dew point at Jacksonville International between about 71 and 75°F at every hour of the day. At 6 a.m. the normal air temperature is within 2°F of it, and by 9 a.m. it is about 8°F above. That matters because of a rule on coating data sheets: Simiron's sheets for its 1100SL epoxy and its MVB primer both say the floor must be at least 5 degrees over the current dew point. Water condenses on a surface that is at or below the dew point, which is what the rule guards against. Ask your installer whether they check the dew point before they coat.
Simiron's data sheet for its Polyaspartic HS says polyaspartic cure is greatly influenced by temperature and humidity, that higher temperatures and humidity shorten the working time, and that the material cures faster with moisture in the air. Simiron makes an extra slow cure grade of it for extremely hot or humid conditions. That sheet and the 1100SL epoxy sheet both give 35 to 85°F for the air and the slab during application. Checkmate Coatings says it finishes most home floors in a single day, weather permitting. Ask which product your installer uses and what its data sheet allows.
Simiron's data sheets for its 1100SL epoxy and its Polyaspartic HS both say a slab on the ground needs a moisture barrier under it, and that without one, seasonal changes in ground moisture can push vapor up through the concrete whatever a test showed beforehand. Their limits for a standard coating are 3 pounds of moisture per 1,000 sq ft per 24 hours (ASTM F1869, the calcium chloride test) or 75 percent relative humidity inside the slab (ASTM F2170). Above that, Simiron points to its MVB primer, which it rates up to 25 pounds or 95 percent. EZ Garage Solutions says it uses a moisture vapor barrier primer on every installation. Ask whether your quote includes a moisture test, and what happens if the reading is high.
Plain epoxy is not UV-stable and can amber where sun reaches it. Shark Coatings finishes with a polyaspartic topcoat, Checkmate Coatings says its polyaspartic resists yellowing from UV rays, and EZ Garage Solutions calls its polyaspartic coating more UV resistant than epoxy. Affordable Epoxy finishes with a Sherwin-Williams polyurethane clear topcoat.
Shark Coatings, Checkmate Coatings, Affordable Epoxy and EZ Garage Solutions all say they grind the slab before coating. EZ Garage Solutions lists diamond profiling and crack repair as part of its price, and calls acid etching a shortcut. These are installers' statements about their own work, not test results.
Shark Coatings says its floor is typically ready for vehicles 24 hours after the install. EZ Garage Solutions says its floor takes light foot traffic within hours and is fully cured in 24 hours. Checkmate Coatings says you can walk on its floor after 24 hours and recommends waiting 36 to 48 hours before driving on it. The acrylic resurfacing from Coastal Coating & Resurfacing takes 2 to 3 days to install, can be walked on within 24 hours and needs 7 days before driving. Your installer will give you the times for the products they use.
EZ Garage Solutions counts 400 sq ft as a 2-car garage and 600 sq ft as a 3-car. Shark Coatings gives no floor size with its starting prices. Checkmate Coatings says it has a minimum square footage for a job and does not publish the figure; it suggests combining a garage with a patio or driveway to reach it. Measure yours before you compare totals.
From Jacksonville-area installers' own published prices: EZ Garage Solutions shows $2,400 for a 400 sq ft garage with its polyurea floor, taxes included, and Shark Coatings starts a garage floor at $2,500. Per square foot, published rates run from $4 for new build homes at Affordable Epoxy to $5.50 to $6.50 at Checkmate Coatings. Cracks, an old coating, the size of the garage and the finish all move the price.
The Florida Department of Revenue covers this in its brochure for building contractors, GT-800007. It says that under lump sum, cost plus or fixed fee, guaranteed price, and time and materials contracts, the contractor is the final consumer of the materials, and no sales tax is to be collected from the property owner. A contract that lists and prices the materials separately from the installation is treated differently: the contractor collects sales tax on the materials. The brochure does not name floor coatings, so ask your installer how they write the contract. EZ Garage Solutions says its price includes taxes. The other prices here do not say.
Heat is only part of it. Jacksonville International averages about 80 days a year at 90°F or more (NOAA, 1991 to 2020), and two Simiron data sheets, one for an epoxy and one for a polyaspartic, give 85°F as the top of the air and slab temperature range for application. Humidity is the other part: the epoxy sheet wants the floor at least 5 degrees over the dew point, and NOAA's July normals put the dew point within 2°F of the air temperature at 6 a.m. Ask which product your installer uses, what time of day they coat, and whether they check the dew point.
Installers here sell several systems. Shark Coatings and Checkmate Coatings finish with polyaspartic, EZ Garage Solutions sells a polyurea floor, and Affordable Epoxy puts a polyurethane clear topcoat over its base coat and flake. Checkmate Coatings says polyaspartic resists yellowing from UV rays, and Simiron's data sheet for its polyaspartic says heat and humidity shorten the working time. Whatever the system, grinding the slab properly and coating a dry floor matter most.
It is worth asking for. Two Simiron data sheets set the limit for a standard coating at 3 pounds of moisture per 1,000 sq ft per 24 hours (ASTM F1869) or 75 percent relative humidity inside the slab (ASTM F2170), and say a slab with no moisture barrier under it can exceed that as ground moisture changes with the season. EZ Garage Solutions says it uses a moisture vapor barrier primer on every installation. Ask what your quote includes.
They are for different jobs. The $4 per sq ft at Affordable Epoxy is for garage floors in new build homes; it quotes every other job individually. The $1,800 minimum at Coastal Coating & Resurfacing is for an acrylic resurfacing system, not an epoxy or polyaspartic floor. Compare what is included, not just the total.
Shark Coatings says typically 24 hours after the install. EZ Garage Solutions says its floor is fully cured in 24 hours. Checkmate Coatings recommends 36 to 48 hours. Your installer will give you the times for the products they use.
No. It is a range built from what local installers publish. An installer confirms the real price after seeing your floor, usually with a free visit. If you want quotes, leave your details and we will pass them to a local installer.
