Metallic epoxy floor cost: per square foot, garage and basement (2026)

Researched by the Pictimate research team · Sources checked October 13, 2026 · How we research

Twelve installers on our guides publish their own price for a metallic epoxy floor: six in the United States and six in Canada. In US dollars, three Dallas-Fort Worth installers publish a rate of $10 to $18 per square foot, and three Phoenix-area installers publish a 2-car garage total of $3,099 to $6,000.[1 to 6] In Canadian dollars, five installers publish a rate of $9 to $16 and up per square foot, with 2-car garage totals of $4,000 to $9,000, and a sixth publishes $12 to $18 per square foot for a basement.[7 to 12]

A rate is a price per square foot. A garage total is a price for a whole garage of a stated size. Some installers publish one and not the other, so each table below has a column for each. These are ranges across installers, not averages. Each end belongs to one named installer. The two currencies are kept apart, and nothing is converted.

All twelve also publish a flake price, and at each of them metallic is priced above flake.[1 to 12] Quartz epoxy floors, which fewer installers price, have a short section near the end. Every price was read on the installer's own page on October 13, 2026. Prices change, and none of them is a quote.

Metallic epoxy cost per square foot and per garage, in US dollars

Six US installers publish their own metallic price: three in Dallas-Fort Worth and three in the Phoenix area. Each was already checked for one of our city guides: a real, named business with an address or licence we could look up, real finished jobs of its own, its own published price, and no signs of lead generation. We used only prices installers publish as their own, not market ranges.

Per square foot, the three Dallas-Fort Worth installers run from $10 to $18. The $10 is Dallas Epoxy Guys' rate. The $18 is the top of Red Diamond Epoxy's range, which includes a moisture vapor barrier.[1, 3] Professional Garage Concepts starts at $12 for a single colour and charges $13 to $16 for more than one.[2, 13]

For a 2-car garage, the three Phoenix-area installers run from $3,099 to $6,000, on garages of up to 450 or 500 sq ft. The low end is a current promotion at Saguaro Surface Coatings, for up to 450 sq ft, before tax. The top is Superior Epoxy Floors' range for 400 to 500 sq ft.[5, 6] Check's Epoxy sits between them at $3,640 to $5,460.[4]

None of the six publishes both a rate and a garage total for metallic. To put the two side by side, here is our arithmetic, not a price any of them publishes: on a 450 sq ft floor, $10 per square foot is $4,500, from $12 is from $5,400, and $12 to $18 is $5,400 to $8,100.[1 to 3]

That is three installers in one Texas metro and three in one Arizona metro, not a national price. No Chicago-area installer on our guides publishes a metallic price.

Per square foot, the five run from $9 to $16 and up. The $9 is the low end at both Epoxy Dudes and M&M Floors. At the top, Priority One Epoxy Flooring's range ends at $16.00 and up, and Wish Coatings starts at $16.[7, 9 to 11]

Three of them publish a 2-car garage figure, from $4,000 to $9,000. Epoxy Dudes lists $4,000 and up. Epoxy Experts lists $4,000 to $9,000 for 400 to 600 sq ft. Wish Coatings works its own example: 400 sq ft at $16 is $6,400.[7, 8, 10] Priority One Epoxy Flooring and M&M Floors publish a rate and no metallic garage total.[9, 11]

Ask whether sales tax is included before you compare quotes. Priority One Epoxy Flooring says its written quote confirms the applicable taxes, and the other four pages do not mention tax.[7 to 11]

Metallic epoxy basement floor cost

One installer on our guides publishes a metallic rate for basements: GLI Epoxy Flooring, in Toronto. Its figures are in Canadian dollars. They are what it quotes for a basement of 600 to 1,200 sq ft, not for a garage.[12]

Scroll sideways to see every column.

GLI Epoxy Flooring[12]Toronto and the GTA, ON · CADDated May 14, 2026$12 to $18A basement of 600 to 1,200 sq ft$9 to $14 per sq ft, full broadcast flake in a basement
Note: A basement price, not a garage price. A moisture mitigation primer adds $1.50 to $3 per sq ft when the readings call for it. Under 500 sq ft, it says to expect a minimum project fee of around $3,500.

Prices as each installer publishes them on its own site. They change, and none of them is a quote. Pictimate is not affiliated with these businesses.

By our arithmetic, in Canadian dollars, $12 to $18 on a 600 sq ft basement is $7,200 to $10,800, and on 1,200 sq ft it is $14,400 to $21,600. GLI Epoxy Flooring publishes the rate, not those totals.[12]

Two other installers give a basement example, both in Canadian dollars. Epoxy Dudes, in Toronto, says a 1,000 sq ft basement with a metallic finish could start at $8,000.[7] Wish Coatings describes a four-colour metallic floor it installed in a 350 sq ft basement in White Rock, BC, over three days, and gives $16 per square foot (Canadian dollars) as its metallic starting rate.[15]

No US installer on our guides publishes a metallic price for a basement, so we give no US figure.

A basement adds its own checks. GLI Epoxy Flooring says pricing varies more in basements than in garages, because slab condition, moisture readings and access through narrow stairwells all move the number.[12] Priority One Epoxy Flooring says metallic can suit a basement when the concrete and moisture conditions are compatible with the coating system, and that a decorative coating does not solve an underlying leak or drainage problem.[14]

Flake and solid colour prices for basements, and what moisture means below grade, are on our guide to epoxy basement floor cost.

Why a metallic epoxy floor costs more than flake

These are the installers' own reasons, from their own pages. The last column of each table above shows the gap at each installer.

It is worked by hand

Professional Garage Concepts describes a metallic floor as a pigmented epoxy base with reflective metallic pigment in a clear resin, poured over the base and moved by hand until the pattern is right. It says the whole effect is made in about a 40-minute window while the resin is still workable, and calls metallic the most skill-dependent floor it installs.[13] Epoxy Experts says it lays the metallic layer by hand, working the colour while it is still wet.[16] Wish Coatings says its metallic floors sit above a standard flake floor in price because of the extra artistry and materials involved.[15]

More layers and more material

At Professional Garage Concepts the build is a pigmented epoxy base coat, then a clear 100 percent solids epoxy mixed with metallic pigment, then a clear topcoat.[13] Red Diamond Epoxy says its metallic price reflects a mandatory moisture vapor barrier, multiple pigment layers and a slower cure schedule.[3] Wish Coatings says quartz and metallic cost more for their materials and finish.[10]

There is no flake to hide the slab

Professional Garage Concepts says a metallic floor is a smooth, high-gloss film with nothing broadcast into it, so it shows slab problems where a flake floor would hide them. A low spot, a high spot along an old patch or a crack repair that is not ground flush catches the eye across the whole floor. It says that makes slab preparation more demanding on a metallic job, and that this is part of why the price is higher.[13] Check's Epoxy puts it the same way: a high-gloss metallic behaves like a mirror, every low spot, trowel mark and old patch shows through, and grinding is a bigger share of a metallic job than of a flake one.[17] Priority One Epoxy Flooring says reflective floors can reveal defects in the concrete under them.[14]

Moisture testing and a barrier primer

Professional Garage Concepts tests for moisture on every metallic job and says a moisture vapor barrier primer is needed on metallic more often than on its other systems. It prices the primer as a $1 to $2 per square foot add-on (US dollars).[13] Red Diamond Epoxy includes a moisture vapor barrier in every metallic price.[3]

In a basement, GLI Epoxy Flooring adds $1.50 to $3 per square foot for a moisture mitigation primer when the readings call for it (Canadian dollars).[12]

More colours and more days

Professional Garage Concepts charges from $12 per square foot for one metallic colour and $13 to $16 for two or more (US dollars).[13] Saguaro Surface Coatings' promotion includes a base colour and up to three metallic colours.[6] Red Diamond Epoxy says multi-pigment metallics take longer, and gives 3 to 5 days for a metallic job against 2 to 3 days for a standard 2-car garage.[3] Wish Coatings and Epoxy Experts each give about two to three days for a metallic floor.[15, 16]

How big the gap is

Professional Garage Concepts says that in a garage holding two vehicles, storage and a workbench, a full flake floor costs roughly half as much as metallic.[13] Repairs and removal of an old coating are extra on a metallic floor as on any other. Check's Epoxy prices crack and pit repair at $200 to $600 where the slab needs it, and Saguaro Surface Coatings' promotion leaves out removal of an old coating (US dollars).[4, 6]

What a metallic floor suits, and what it does not

Rooms that are looked at more than worked in

Professional Garage Concepts calls metallic a finish decision, not a durability decision: the system underneath is a standard high-build epoxy floor, and the higher price pays for appearance. It names showrooms, home bars, game rooms and collector garages where the floor is part of the display.[13] Dallas Epoxy Guys says metallic can work in garages, especially showroom-style spaces, but that flake is often more practical in a garage used heavily for vehicles, tools, gym equipment and storage.[1] Check's Epoxy usually suggests flake for a working garage and metallic for a space people look at.[17]

Daily parking and hot tires

Wish Coatings says that for high-traffic garages that see hot tires and grit, many homeowners choose a full flake floor for its added texture and traction.[15] Priority One Epoxy Flooring says to compare a full flake coating for regular parking, grit, wet tires and a finish that hides everyday dirt.[14] Professional Garage Concepts steers people away from metallic in a garage where the floor spends its life under two vehicles and storage bins.[13]

Tire marks are not only a metallic problem. Simiron's data sheets say tire marking may occur on both its polyaspartic and its epoxy.[18, 19] On a metallic floor the sheen changes how much shows. Professional Garage Concepts says high gloss shows dust, footprints, water spots and scuffs, while satin hides dust and tire marks better and gives up some depth.[13]

Sunlight

Professional Garage Concepts says epoxy ambers under UV light, so a metallic pour finished with a clear epoxy topcoat will yellow anywhere sunlight reaches it. It finishes metallic floors with a clear polyaspartic topcoat instead.[13] Wish Coatings and Epoxy Experts also name a UV-stable topcoat for metallic floors.[15, 16]

Data sheets say the same about epoxy. Sherwin-Williams says epoxy coatings may darken or yellow, and that its clear epoxy is for interior use only. Westcoat says its epoxy primer is for interior use only unless a UV resistant coating protects it.[20, 21] Priority One Epoxy Flooring adds a caution: a UV-resistant clear coat does not make every layer under it immune to colour change. It asks about large windows and direct sun before it picks the products.[14]

Water on a smooth floor

Professional Garage Concepts says a high-gloss metallic floor is slick when wet, because it is a smooth film with nothing broadcast into it. For spaces that get wet it adds grit to the clear topcoat.[13] Priority One Epoxy Flooring says a traction additive can change the texture, sheen and clarity of the design.[14]

Repairs and warranty

Professional Garage Concepts says a damaged section of a metallic floor cannot be spot repaired invisibly, because a patch will not match the pour around it.[13] GLI Epoxy Flooring says metallic finishes are harder to blend than solid or flake systems.[12] Epoxy Experts gives a 5 year written warranty on metallic floors and a 15 year one on its flake and solid colour garage floors.[8]

How epoxy and polyaspartic compare for sunlight, cure time and hot tires is in our guide to polyaspartic vs epoxy garage floors.

No two metallic floors look the same, and a preview is not a finished job

The pattern is made on your slab, by hand, while the resin is wet. Professional Garage Concepts says a metallic floor cannot be exactly reproduced from a photo, a sample panel or another job, and that the more colours there are, the more the outcome depends on the installer's hands.[13] Epoxy Experts says metallic floors live or die on the hands that pour them.[16] Check's Epoxy says it can match a colour palette closely, but not a specific pattern.[17] Priority One Epoxy Flooring says a sample sets the direction and cannot promise an identical pattern across a larger floor.[14] Dallas Epoxy Guys says your floor will not look exactly like a photo you found online, and that variation should be expected with metallic.[1]

So the same price can buy a different-looking floor from two installers. Ask to see metallic floors the installer poured itself, and a sample in your colours under your own lighting. Professional Garage Concepts says a metallic pour changes completely with the light in the room.[2]

The same limit applies to us. A Pictimate preview is an AI picture of a finish in a photo of your own room. It can help you choose a colour direction. It is not a photo of a finished job, and the floor an installer pours will not match it line for line.

Quartz epoxy floor cost

A quartz floor uses coloured quartz aggregate where a flake floor uses vinyl chips. Priority One Epoxy Flooring describes its quartz garage system as coloured aggregate with a sealed texture.[9] Fewer installers on our guides price it: three in Canada and one in the United States.

In Canadian dollars the three run from $10 to $16 per square foot. The $10 is the low end at Priority One Epoxy Flooring, and the $16 is the top at Surface Coating Experts. None of them publishes a garage total for quartz.[9, 22] At Priority One Epoxy Flooring and Wish Coatings, quartz is priced between flake and metallic.[9, 10]

In US dollars, one installer on our guides publishes a price that covers quartz. High Performance Concrete Coatings, in Addison, Illinois, prices all its decorative systems at $5.25 to $6.00 per square foot, assuming the concrete is clean, with repair work not included. Its page names two decorative systems, DecoFlake and DecoQuartz. That is one installer's price for its decorative floors, not a quartz price on its own.[24]

Installers sell quartz for grip. Wish Coatings calls it the finish for wet areas, and Surface Coating Experts points to its slip resistance.[10, 23] The texture is the thing to check first. High Performance Concrete Coatings says its quartz system has an abrasive, very slip-resistant profile and needs a hose, and sometimes a plastic scrub brush, to clean.[24] Priority One Epoxy Flooring suggests reviewing a finished sample before choosing the texture.[9]

The local tables these quartz prices come from are on our guides to epoxy floor cost in Toronto, epoxy floor cost in Vancouver and epoxy floor cost in Chicago.

Questions

How much does a metallic epoxy floor cost per square foot?

In US dollars, three Dallas-Fort Worth installers publish $10 to $18 per square foot: Dallas Epoxy Guys $10, Professional Garage Concepts from $12, and Red Diamond Epoxy $12 to $18 with a moisture vapor barrier included.[1 to 3] In Canadian dollars, five installers publish $9 to $16 and up for a garage: Epoxy Dudes $9 to $12, M&M Floors $9 to $12, Epoxy Experts $10 to $15, Priority One Epoxy Flooring $11 to $16 and up, and Wish Coatings from $16.[7 to 11]

How much does a metallic epoxy garage floor cost for a 2-car garage?

In US dollars, three Phoenix-area installers publish a 2-car total: Saguaro Surface Coatings from $3,099 for up to 450 sq ft as a current promotion, Superior Epoxy Floors $3,200 to $6,000 for 400 to 500 sq ft, and Check's Epoxy $3,640 to $5,460 for about 400 to 500 sq ft.[4 to 6] In Canadian dollars, Epoxy Dudes lists $4,000 and up, Epoxy Experts lists $4,000 to $9,000 for 400 to 600 sq ft, and Wish Coatings works out $6,400 for 400 sq ft at its starting rate.[7, 8, 10]

Why is metallic epoxy more expensive than a flake floor?

Installers give three reasons. The pattern is worked by hand in a short window, there are more layers and more material, and there is no flake to hide the slab, so prep takes longer.[3, 13, 15] Check's Epoxy says a high-gloss metallic behaves like a mirror, so every low spot and old patch shows and grinding is a bigger share of the job.[17] Professional Garage Concepts says a full flake floor costs roughly half as much in an ordinary family garage.[13]

How much does a metallic epoxy basement floor cost?

GLI Epoxy Flooring, in Toronto, publishes $12 to $18 per square foot for a basement of 600 to 1,200 sq ft, in Canadian dollars, with a moisture mitigation primer adding $1.50 to $3 when the readings call for it.[12] Epoxy Dudes, also in Toronto, says a 1,000 sq ft basement with a metallic finish could start at $8,000 (Canadian dollars).[7] No US installer on our guides publishes a metallic price for a basement.

Is metallic epoxy a good choice for a garage you park in every day?

Several installers that sell it suggest flake for that garage. Professional Garage Concepts says usually not for a regular family garage, and Dallas Epoxy Guys says flake is often more practical in a garage used heavily for vehicles, tools and storage.[1, 13] Wish Coatings and Priority One Epoxy Flooring both point to a full flake floor for daily parking, hot or wet tires and grit.[14, 15] They suggest metallic for a show garage or a room where the floor is meant to be seen.[13, 14, 17]

Will a metallic epoxy floor yellow in the sun?

It can if the topcoat is clear epoxy. Professional Garage Concepts says a metallic pour finished with a clear epoxy topcoat will yellow anywhere sunlight reaches it, and uses a clear polyaspartic topcoat instead.[13] Sherwin-Williams' data sheet says epoxy coatings may darken or yellow and that its clear epoxy is for interior use only.[20] Priority One Epoxy Flooring says a UV-resistant clear coat does not make every layer under it immune to colour change, so tell your installer about windows and direct sun.[14]

How much does a quartz epoxy floor cost?

In Canadian dollars, three installers publish $10 to $16 per square foot: Priority One Epoxy Flooring $10 to $13.50, Surface Coating Experts $11 to $16, and Wish Coatings from $13.[9, 10, 22] In US dollars, High Performance Concrete Coatings in the Chicago area prices its decorative systems, which include a quartz one, at $5.25 to $6 per square foot with repairs extra.[24]

Will my metallic floor look like the photos or the preview?

Not exactly. Professional Garage Concepts says a metallic floor cannot be exactly reproduced from a photo, a sample panel or another job, and Priority One Epoxy Flooring says a hand-applied pattern cannot be duplicated exactly.[13, 14] The same goes for an AI preview, ours included: it shows a colour direction in your room, not the pattern an installer will pour.
